MDT is currently recruiting for a Temporary Civil Engineering Technician for our Construction team in Billings, MT. This position serves as a Field Project Technician within the District and is responsible for applying various inspection, sampling, and testing procedures to verify that construction project features and materials conform with standard specifications, Department requirements, and contract agreements. Civil Engineering Technician Materials Lab

This position serves as a Civil Engineering Technician within the District and is responsible for applying various inspection, sampling, and testing procedures to verify that construction project features and materials conform with standard specifications. Duties include performing laboratory testing, collecting samples of a variety of materials, perform testing and determining procedures to follow based on the type of material sampled. Prepares samples for testing based on the type of material and procedures outlined in the manual. Conducts a wide variety of specialized testing procedures on materials to specifications at preconstruction and construction sites; sets up trailer and other site equipment, maintains and repairs equipment to ensure safety, accurate results, proper operation, cost containment and extended life.
