The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and CK May Excavating, Inc. are continuing work on State Secondary Highway 288 (S 288), also known as Churchill Road, between Churchill and Manhattan.

This week, crews will continue work on the north curve, weather and other factors permitting. Traffic will be traveling on the detour around the White Ditch stockpass while the existing timber structure is removed and replaced with a concrete culvert.

Motorists should expect short delays and alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers for the duration of culvert work. Travelers should also expect reduced speeds and a 12-foot width restriction in place until work is completed.

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and CK May Excavating, Inc. are resuming work this week on State Secondary Highway 288 (S 288), also known as Churchill Road, between Churchill and Manhattan.

Irrigation work was completed earlier this spring.

This week, crews will work on the north curve, weather and other factors permitting. Scheduled work includes removing topsoil, milling, and building a minor detour around the White Ditch stockpass to prepare for culvert replacement. Construction will occur on approximately half a mile of roadway between mile markers 2 and 3. Please slow down and watch for workers on the roadway.

From 7 am to 7 pm, travel will be reduced to an alternating one-way traffic pattern controlled by flaggers. Travelers should also expect reduced speeds and a 12-foot width restriction in place until work is completed.

Work will occur on Churchill Road, between Amsterdam Road and the intersection with Meadow View Way. Two aging timber structures will be replaced with concrete box culverts, and four new culverts will be installed to ensure maximum drainage efficacy. Additional work includes installing rumble strips, upgrading signage, and updating pavement markings. Starting in July, traffic will be detoured around the Camp Creek Bridge structure via the detour shown in the project map.
