Montana Department
of Transportation Proposes Design and Rehabilitation/Reconstruction
Project on 1st Avenue North

Billings The Montana Department of
Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the public and seek
comments on a proposal to design and rebuild/rehabilitate
approximately 2 miles of 1st Avenue North from the intersection with
Division Street to the intersection with North 9th Street in Billings
in Yellowstone County.

Proposed work includes a combination of
rehabilitation and reconstruction that is intended to address poor
pavement condition and substandard curb, gutter, and sidewalk.
Proposed work includes enhancements to Americans with Disabilities
Act facilities and upgrades to curb, gutter, pavement, lighting, and
a signalized intersection located at North 13th Street. The proposed
project is needed due to existing poor pavement condition and
substandard curb, gutter, and sidewalk.

Construction is tentatively
planned for beyond 2020 depending on completion of design,
right-of-way acquisition, and availability of funds. New right-of-way
and relocation of utilities may be required. MDT representatives will
contact all potentially affected landowners prior to conducting
survey work on their land. Staff will again contact landowners prior
to construction regarding property acquisition and temporary
construction permits.
