Montana Department
of Transportation Proposes Reconstruction Project the Roberts Rest
Area on U.S. Highway 212

Red Lodge  The Montana Department of
Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the public and seek
comments on a proposal to reconstruct the Roberts Rest Area, which is
located along U.S. Highway 212 approximately 2 miles northeast of
Roberts at approximate reference post 84.59 in Carbon County. 

I of the proposed project will include evaluation and design of the
water/wastewater systems for the rest area, permitting of the systems
through the Montana Department of Environmental Quality, and
providing environmental compliance documentation in accordance with
the National and Montana Environmental Policy Acts. Phase II of the
project will include full reconstruction of the rest area, including
the water/wastewater systems, a building facility, and the parking

The purpose of the project is to extend the service life
of the rest area in order to meet current and future demand. Phase I
of this project has been initiated and is scheduled for completion
near the end of 2017. Phase II is expected to begin after completion
of Phase I, depending on availability of funding. 

No utility
relocations will be required. At this time, right-of way acquisition
is not anticipated.
