Montana Department
of Transportation Proposes Road Resurfacing and Sidewalk Improvement
Project in Cascade

Cascade The Montana Department of
Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the public and seek
comments on a proposal to resurface about 0.2 miles of roadway on
Central Avenue in Cascade. The project begins at 1st St. N (reference
post 36.943) and extends east for 0.18 miles, ending at the west end
of the bridge at the Missouri River (reference post 36.763).

Proposed work includes new sidewalk, new curb and gutter, parking
widening, milling the existing sur-face, applying a new overlay, and
finishing with a seal and cover (chip seal), upgraded pavement
mark-ings, and guardrail. The purpose of the project is to postpone
reconstruction by extending the life of the roadway and to bring the
features along this segment of the corridor into compliance with the
Americans with Disabilities Act.

Construction is tentatively planned
for 2018, depending on completion of design and availability of
funds. New right-of-way and relocation of utilities will be required.
Staff will contact potentially affect-ed landowners prior to
construction regarding property acquisition and temporary
construction per-mits.
