of Transportation Proposes Paving Project on U.S. Highway 2 East of
SHELBY — The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would
like to notify the public and seek comments on a proposal to seal and
cover about 11.7 miles of U.S. Highway 2 east of Shelby in Toole
County. The project begins within the Shelby City Limits east of the
railroad crossing at reference post (RP) 280.0 and proceeds east
through the community of Dunkirk, ending at RP 291.8.
includes seal and cover (chip seal), fog seal, and upgraded pavement
markings. The purpose of the project is to extend the life of the
roadway by sealing the surface.
The project is tentatively scheduled
for construction in 2018, depending on completion of all project
development activities and availability of funding. No new
right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed.
