TRAFFIC FINES DOUBLE in highway work zones. The law also sets fines and jail sentences for reckless endangerment of highway workers.

MINOR DELAYS (up to ten minutes) can be expected through these projects with anything over ten minutes being noted in the description. Watch for equipment, flaggers, and workers along the road. Expect reduced speed limits.


Active Construction Projects

I-15 - Mile Marker 123 to 126.5
One mile east of Rocker (Exit 122).
I-15/I-90 Northbound/Eastbound lanes will be closed for bridge replacement work.
*A 12 foot width restriction is in effect.
**Staging areas are available on each end of the project for loads between 12 and 18 feet in width. These loads will be escorted through the project site Monday through Thursday each week, between 9:30 am and 10:30 am Eastbound milepost 123.5 and 10:30 am to 11:30 am for Westbound traffic milepost 126.5.

**32- J loads (those greater than 18 feet wide, 150 feet long, or 17 feet high) must contact the Prime Contractor at (406) 490-8390 Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, before traveling to make special arrangements to be escorted through the project site on a case-by-case basis. 32- J carriers will be required to enter into a written agreement with the prime contractor to receive trip permits. All carriers may also consider use of alternate routes.

I-15 - Mile Marker 157.8 to 158.2
Basin to Boulder, Rock Slope - West of Basin.
*Work in progress at the High Ore Interchange, milepost 160.4. I-15 traffic will be detoured to the interchange on and off ramps.
**Beginning May 23rd, 2018, traffic may be stopped for up to 20 minutes resulting in 30 minute delays. These delays will occur between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday through Saturday.
**A 12 foot width restriction is in effect.
***Staging areas are available on each end of the project for loads between 12 and 18 feet in width. These loads will be escorted through the project site 8:30 am to 9:30 am Southbound and then 9:30 am to 10:30 am Northbound. For additional information call 406-490-8390.

I-15 - Mile Marker 175 to 177
Jefferson City south approximately two miles.
Due to a culvert failure there are temporary crossovers constructed to maintain single lane traffic north and southbound. Flaggers will be present 24 hours a day while remaining crossover work is completed. There is a 12 foot width restriction in effect. Staging areas are available for loads between 12 and 18 feet wide. The northbound staging area is north of Boulder Interchange (mp 165) and the southbound staging area is north of Jefferson City Interchange (mp 177). Wide loads will be escorted through the project between 9 AM - 11 AM daily. Loads over 18 feet wide, 150 feet long, or 17 feet high must contact the Prime Contractor at (406) 490-8390 Monday thru Friday between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM prior to traveling to make special arrangements.

I-15 - Mile Marker 244 to 246
THE CANYON INTERCHANGE.
Rock Fall Mitigation - Traffic may be stopped for up to 30 minutes at a time between 5PM - 7PM for wide load passages. Loads over 12 feet wide will be piloted through the project Monday - Thursday between 5PM - 7PM.
The staging areas are as follows:
* Northbound is at MM 243.2
* Southbound is at MM 247.

South of Dutton and continues 12.6 miles north.
Work continues on the following structures which include Dutton Interchange (MM 313.2). Teton River (MM 318.6) and Collins Road Interchange. Expect single lane traffic over the structures. Paving operations will take place weather permitting.

I-15 - Mile Marker 363.4 to 363.6
South Shelby Exit 363 I-15 Interchange.
Bridge Preservation work in progress. Width restriction of 13 feet with closure of northbound bridge. Crossovers are in place. Expect two-lane, two-way traffic in the southbound lane of I-15 a mile before and a mile after the 363 Exit. There are wide load staging areas located north and south of Shelby.
All loads over 13 feet will be escorted Monday thru Thursday between 8AM to 10AM starting May 5th.
**There will be no wide load passage Friday thru Sunday.

9 Miles West of Superior to 5 Miles West of Alberton.
EB Crystal Spring Exit 65.0 ramps are closed for construction season. Use WB Crystal Springs ramps to access Crystal Springs.
***Staging and piloting activity will take place Monday thru Thursday. Oversized loads missing the designated piloting times will be required to wait until the next opening to be escorted through the project.***
**There is a 16-foot width restriction on I-90 in both directions from mile post 41.0 to 44.7. All loads greater than 16 feet wide will need to plan an alternate route.
**There is a 12 foot width restriction, between mile post 62.8 and 71.6. Wide loads between 12 to 16 feet wide will be piloted through this area.
*EASTBOUND LOADS between 12 and 16 feet in width are required to stage in the signed staging area at the Quartz Rest area at mile post 58 at 6 a.m. MST.,
*WESTBOUND LOADS between 12 and 16 feet in width are required to stage in the signed staging area at the Alberton Parking area mile post 72 at 7 a.m. MST.

King Avenue Interchange- Billings.
Work will begin May 29th on the signals of the King Avenue interchange. Traffic will be maintained at all times but reduced to single lane travel during work. Work will be conducted from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Project is scheduled to be complete by June 1st.

I-90 - Mile Marker 527 to 529
2 Miles North of Lodge Grass.
The project is located on I-90 from mile post 527 to 529 in the westbound driving lane. West bound lane is closed.

MT-1 - Mile Marker 8.1 to 8.1
Cedar Street - Anaconda.
*Removal and installation of curb, gutter, and sidewalk on the east side of Cedar Street at the intersections is in progress. Pedestrian traffic is being detoured to the west side of Cedar Street.
*Expect delays of up to 10 minutes.

MT-1 - Mile Marker 29 to 29.5
About 8 miles south of Philipsburg.

South of Sidney at the JCT of MT 16, MT 23, and MT 200.
There is a detour in place. Watch for ditch work on MT-23 with trucks entering the roadway. The roundabout will be partially opened on May 9, 2018. Watch for stop signs at the intersection.

MT-200 - Mile Marker 49.6 to 49.7
4 Miles Southeast of Ovando.
Bridge work will take place. Work began Monday April 9th.
The eastbound lane will be open for single lane traffic in both directions and controlled by a signal light.
**Loads over 16 feet wide must use an alternate route.

Work will be on the irrigation ditches between County Roads 126 and 127. Work will be located in the south bound lane. Reduce speeds in the active locations.

11 Miles South of Opheim.
There is a width restriction of 16 feet. A detour is in place with reduced speeds of 35 MPH.

MT-35 - Mile Marker 49.7 to 50
Helena Flats Intersection.
Helena Flats Road will have single lane closures through Friday, May 18th as crews begin to add a new 4-way traffic signal at the intersection of Helena Flats Road and MT-35. Detours will be set up for travelers during this time. Work will include: chip sealing, sign installation, paving, grading, clearing and grubbing, and aligning a 4-way intersection. Estimated project completion date of June 15th, 2018.

MT-47 - Mile Marker 2.4 to 11.7
North of the Junction of MT-47 and I-90.
The Hardin North Road Project begins north of the Junction of MT-47 and I-90 and proceeds north on MT-47.

South of Whitehall.
**Traffic on MT-55 south of Whitehall is now detouring onto Capp Lane during replacement of the bridge crossing Pipestone Creek.
**A 10 foot width restriction is in effect on MT-55 and the Capp Lane detour.
**A 10 ton weight restriction is in effect on the Capp Lane detour route.
**This restriction is expected to remain in effect until Fall of 2018.

Bridge Replacement Project continues. The new detour is expected to open the week of May 21st with a 12? WIDTH RESTRICTION and reduced speeds. Bridge work will consist of Chip Sealing, Guardrail and Sign installation, Paving, Striping, and Seeding. Estimated completion date is September 2018.

Huson - East Secondary Highway Route 574.
Complete road reconstruction and utility work in progress. Heavy equipment and road workers present during daytime hours Monday through Friday. Placing Pipes across roads at various locations. Gravel travel surfaces. Anticipate multiple work zones through the 11 mile project.
*Multi-Use path is now closed throughout the entire project until further notice. The Frontage Road is not recommended as an alternative for pedestrians and cyclists due to heavy equipment and haul trucks operating on and along the roadside.

South Fork of Flathead River Bridge - HUNGRY HORSE.
Dirt work is scheduled to begin the week of May 21st. Expect occasional night work.
Use of Forest Service roads within the project boundaries has been restricted or prohibited for safety purposes. Details can be obtained from the Hungry Horse Ranger District of the Flathead National Forest. REF: Order # D06-138-S-17.

River Road is anticipated to be closed Wednesday May 23rd through Friday June 1st from Russell Street to Mobil City Trailer Park. Traffic will need to head west on River Road then South on N. Curtis Street then East on Wyoming Street to access Russell Street.
Milwaukee Trail will be closed Monday April 16th through November 2018 from Catlin Street to Prince Street. Detour will be in place.
North Riverfront Trail will be closed from California Street to around 200 feet west of Catlin from Thursday April 26th through August 2019.
