TRAFFIC FINES DOUBLE in highway work zones. The law also sets fines and jail sentences for reckless endangerment of highway workers.

MINOR DELAYS (up to ten minutes) can be expected through these projects with anything over ten minutes being noted in the description. Watch for equipment, flaggers, and workers along the road. Expect reduced speed limits.


Active Construction Projects

I-15 - Mile Marker 37.9 to 45.9
Red Rock - Clark Canyon.
*Bridge deck work will begin on Exit 44 Horse Prairie Interchange. The bridge will not be accessible after normal work hours. Traffic will be detoured to the following areas:
a) Horse Prairie traffic coming from the west side of the interchange wanting to go North or the east side of the interchange will be detoured 7 miles south to the Red Rock interchange(Exit 37).
b) Horse Prairie traffic from the east side of the interchange wanting to go south or to the west side of the interchange will be detoured 8 miles north to the Grasshopper interchange (Exit 52).
c) Northbound I-15 traffic wanting to exit at the Horse Prairie interchange and head west will be detoured 8 miles north to the Grasshopper interchange (Exit 52).
d) Southbound I-15 traffic wanting to exit at the Horse Prairie interchange and head east will be detoured 7 miles South to the Red Rock interchange (Exit 37).
***Wide load width restriction will be in place beginning August 14th, 2017. Wide loads over 12 feet heading north and south on I-15 will be staged in a lane closure. Oversized loads will be piloted Monday through Thursday between 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 am. Each driver will have to coordinate their arrival time with Keith Johnston, Mountain West Traffic Control @ 406-490-8390 at least 48 hours in advance of arrival- call this number between 8:00 am and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

I-15 - Mile Marker 150.9 to 157.7
Bernice to Basin.
***Paving work will be in progress at the Bernice Interchange and the Basin Interchange.
***Striping work will also be in progress in the northbound and southbound lanes from mileposts 150.9 to 157.7.

I-15 - Mile Marker 192.2 to 193.1
Helena - Between Capitol Interchange and Cedar Interchange.
The two crossovers on the northbound and southbound bridges are functional. The southbound bridge is closed to traffic. The northbound passing lane on I-15 will be closed to allow the southbound traffic passage. Wide loads are permitted through the project, please use caution.
Please watch for workers in the work zone, safe travels.

5 Miles South of Wolf Creek Interchange to Sieben Interchange (Exit 216).

I-15 - Mile Marker 282 to 286
Emerson Jct to Manchester.
Roadway reconstruction. There will be a wide load restriction on I-15 from Emerson Jct to Manchester MM 282.2 - 285.9.
** Wide loads will be piloted 8 AM to 10 AM Monday thru Thursday. This will be in effect until mid-September. We will have staging areas for the wide loads to park in. There will be signs directing the wide loads in these locations.

> The northbound staging area is at the Gore Hill truck stop by the airport.
> The southbound staging area is at the pullout between the Vaughn and Manchester exits at MP 288.

Near Brady and extends north 69.2 miles near Sweet Grass.
Contractor is installing fence out on the R/W therefore not impacting traffic. Contractor has completed installing cattle guards throughout the project. Motorists should use EXTREME caution and be aware of equipment and personnel close to the roadway.

I-90 - Mile Marker 5.7 to 23.3
I-90 Between Taft Interchange and St. Regis MM 5.7 TO MM 23.3 E & W Bound Lanes.

Wide loads between 12 feet and 16 feet must use the eastbound Exit 25 Off Ramp, then continue their travel by using the eastbound On Ramp to bypass the bridge construction work.

**Staging areas are available on each end of the project for loads between 12 and 18 feet in width. These loads will be escorted through the project site Monday through Thursday each week, between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM.
32- J loads (loads greater than 18 feet wide, 150 feet long, and 17 feet high) must contact the Prime Contractor at (406) 490-8390 Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, before traveling to make special arrangements to be escorted through the project site on a case-by-case basis. 32- J carriers will be required to enter into a written agreement with the prime contractor to receive trip permits. All carriers may also consider use of alternate routes.

I-90 eastbound 27th street off ramp.

Project begins at Pinehills Interchange at M.P. 0.0 where I-90 and I-94 converge. The project extends northeast 6.9 miles on I-94 to M.P.7.0 ending 0.8 miles east of Pryor Creek Interchange.
Polymer overlay taking place on west and eastbound Pryor Creek bridges. Lane widths reduced to single lane. Miscellaneous clean up along the shoulders.

Hysham East and Westbound Rest Areas.
The rest areas will be closed beginning on April 10 2017 until March 1, 2018 for reconstruction.

4-Way Stop in St Regis.

Intersection of JCT MT 16, MT 23, and MT 200.

5 miles south east of Thompson falls.
At various locations throughout the Missoula and Kalispell Districts there will be bridge inspection work.

West of Jordan.
Bore drilling is anticipated to start Monday August 28. Work will take place 7 AM - 5:30 PM Monday-Thursday. Project is to last approximately 3 weeks.

COLUMBIA FALLS.
Project includes: milling, paving, chip seal, sidewalks, curb and gutter, signing, electrical improvements and striping. Work is underway on the shoulder and sidewalks. Completion is expected in June, 2018.

South Fork of Flathead River Bridge - HUNGRY HORSE.
Expect occasional night work.
Use of Forest Service roads within the project boundaries has been restricted or prohibited for safety purposes. Details can be obtained from the Hungry Horse Ranger District of the Flathead National Forest. REF: Order # D06-138-S-17.

Beartooth Highway - approximately 12 miles south of Red Lodge to the WY State Line.
The pass is now open 24 hours. The pass will be closed the night of August 23rd & 24th between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. for the application of permanent pavement markings.
