Project Overview
The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and its partner Helena Sand & Gravel Inc. are improving the drainage structure on Highway 282, commonly known as the Montana City Frontage Road, over Prickly Pear Creek approximately 2 miles south of Montana City. Crews will be installing a large box culvert, new pavement, seal and cover (chip seal), roadside barriers, and upgraded signage. This project aims to avoid future road closures by addressing potential issues with culverts.
Construction is anticipated to begin in early July and continue through August, weather permitting.
A full road closure and detour is expected July 8-18, weather and other unforeseen factors permitting. The exact dates of the closure are currently unknown. This website and our email and text message subscribers will be updated as information becomes available.
