The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and LHC Inc. are rehabilitating seven roadways in the Kalispell urban area. Five of these project areas will be resurfaced, and are less than 1 mile in length. Two of the project areas will be chip sealed and covered, and are more than 1 mile in length. This project will preserve the existing pavement and extend the service life of the existing asphalt surfaces.
The project areas include East Reserve Drive, West Evergreen Drive, Airport Road, Conrad Drive, Woodland Park Drive, Whitefish Stage Road, and Woodland Avenue.
Planned improvements include:
- Resurfaced pavement at five of the locations.
- Chip seal.
- New pavement markings
Why is this project needed?
The roads that are being resurfaced as part of this project are East Reserve Drive, West Evergreen Drive, Airport Road, Conrad Drive, and Woodland Park Drive. These roads have seen wear and tear over the years and this project will address the road deterioration in a cost effective manner that will extend the service life of these roads.
Whitefish Stage Road and Woodland Avenue were both resurfaced by the City of Kalispell recently. A chip seal will be done on these routes to preserve the existing pavement and help ensure they continue to serve the traveling public for many years to come.
Stay Informed During Construction
Communication with the public is important to MDT and the success of the project. The community will be notified about public involvement opportunities, and construction and traffic activities, at key project milestones throughout the construction process. MDT will notify the public through the project website, local media, mailings, social media, and email and text notifications.
Current construction information and road conditions can be found on the MDT Travel Info App.
