Project Overview
The MT 200 Bridges Lewistown Area project will reconstruct a series of 10 bridges along US 87/MT 200 in the Lewistown area. The project will replace aging and deteriorating structures in fair and poor condition with new bridges or culverts. Nine of the bridges were constructed prior to 1940 and the timber structures are reaching the end of their useful and serviceable life.
In addition to the bridge replacements, the project will include minor road and approach construction to tie the new structures into the existing road. Safety components including wider shoulders, new guardrail and rumble strips are also included in the project design.

The bridge sites pose some challenges and opportunities that are currently being reviewed. The information being gathered through site visits, public involvement, and other research will influence both the bridge and roadway design and construction.
