Past Public Meetings and Stakeholder Engagement

From November 2020 through March 2023, the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) hosted a series of four open house and online live public meetings. The meetings allowed the public to meet the project team, share information, and answer questions about the project. Also important to the project team was to hear from stakeholders about their issues and concerns.

Due to COVID, the project started by holding two online public meetings. As the project progressed, in-person open house meetings were added as it was safe to do so. The public was provided with similar project information for both online and in-person meetings.

Meeting #4

In-Person Open House Public Meeting – March 20, 2023, 4:00-6:30 p.m.
An in-person open house public meeting was held to provide an opportunity for stakeholders to meet the construction team. The team also shared construction information about the 2023 reconstruction of about four miles of Montana Highway 83 (MT 83) along the east side of Salmon Lake, which started in late March. Meeting #2

In October 2021, the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) hosted two opportunities to share information with the public about proposed improvements to Highway 83 along the east side of Salmon Lake as part of the Salmon Lake Highway 83 Reconstruction project. We presented information about the proposed roadway widths, how we plan to improve slopes and rockfall areas, and other safety improvements. The public was provided with similar project information for both the online and in-person meetings.

Meeting #1

MDT hosted two online live public meetings about the Salmon Lake Highway 83 Reconstruction project on Nov. 19, 2020. The project team shared the project overview, presented the preferred alternative, and discussed schedule and next steps, as well as answered questions about the design and construction process.
