    • Installation of soil nail walls on the east side of the roadway begins. Soil nail walls are an in-place soil reinforcement technique. The slope is reinforced by soil nails made of steel bars or other material such as a self-drilling anchor system. A steel mesh is laid on the surface of the slope and then a concrete surface layer is sprayed to finish the wall.
  • Night shift crews continue backfilling the retaining walls and excavating the roadway.
  • Temporary traffic lights are in use throughout the construction zone, and intermittently at the north end of the lake.
