The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT), and its partner LHC Inc., are proud to announce the completion of the Stillwater River – North pavement preservation project. Beginning in April of this year, the Stillwater River – North project on US Highway 93 (US 93) in Flathead County spanned approximately two miles north of the intersection with West Reserve Drive.

Project work included a seal and cover (chip seal), crack sealing, fog sealing, new pavement markings, and upgraded signage. The purpose of this project was to enhance safety features, provide a smoother driving surface, and extend the service life of the roadway.

July 8-12, 2024

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT), and its partner LHC Inc., are resuming construction on the Stillwater River – North Pavement Preservation project. This project is located on US Highway 93 (US 93) in Flathead County, extending approximately two miles north of the intersection with West Reserve Drive.

Crews anticipate applying final pavement markings the week of July 8, weather permitting. Earlier this year, crews completed paving, grinding, signage installation, bridgework, and a seal and cover (chip seal).

Motorists can expect reduced speeds during construction. Please follow all posted signage and watch for workers and equipment in the project area. Cyclists and motorcyclists are encouraged to use extreme caution.

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and its partner LHC Inc. are pausing construction on the Stillwater River – North Pavement Preservation project until the week of July 8. This project is located on US Highway 93 (US 93) in Flathead County, extending approximately two miles north of the intersection with West Reserve Drive.

In July, crews anticipate finishing work with epoxy pavement markings. Epoxy pavement markings are durable markings recognized for excellent durability on asphalt surfaces and extending the life of the roadway. Earlier this year, crews completed paving, grinding, signage installation, bridgework, and a seal and cover (chip seal).

June 4, 2024

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and partner, LHC, Inc., will resume construction on the Stillwater River – North Pavement Preservation the week of June 3, dependent on weather and other factors. This project is located on US Highway 93 (US 93) in Flathead County, extending approximately two miles north of the intersection with West Reserve Drive.

Work will include a chip seal known as seal and cover. This is the placement of a new riding surface that consists of an application of oil - the seal, followed by the placement of a layer of small rocks – the chips. For the first 48 hours following the chip seal, traffic will be required to travel at no more than 35 mph.

Traffic control is in place. Motorists can expect reduced speeds to 35 mph and single-lane closures allowing one lane of traffic in each direction throughout construction. Please follow all posted signage and watch for workers and equipment in the project area. Cyclists and motorcyclists are encouraged to use extreme caution.

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and partner, LHC, Inc., continued pavement preservation work this week on US Highway 93 (US 93) in Flathead County, extending approximately two miles north of the intersection with West Reserve Drive.

The paving portion and bridge work have been completed. This week, crews finished the bridge work. For the week of April 29, construction work will be on hold.

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and partner, LHC, Inc., continue pavement preservation work this week on US Highway 93 (US 93) in Flathead County, extending approximately two miles north of the intersection with West Reserve Drive.

The paving portion of the project has been completed. This week, crews have been diamond grinding and installing signage. Diamond grinding removes bumps and smooths out the asphalt, a technique used to prevent pavement deterioration. Bridge work is scheduled to begin next week.

Traffic control is in place. Motorists can expect reduced speeds, single lane closures, and delays of up to 10 minutes throughout construction. Cyclists and motorcyclists are encouraged to use extreme caution.
