The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT), in partnership with Stillwater Electric Inc. and Knife River, continues work at the intersection of U.S. Highway 93 (US 93) with Wyoming Street. Improvements at this intersection are part of a broader effort to enhance safety and accessibility within the US 93 corridor in Kalispell and are referred to as “Project #2” within the wider scope of project work.
The week of August 4, nighttime construction will continue on US 93 and Wyoming Street. Activities are scheduled to take place from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. to minimize disruptions and traveler impacts. During active work hours, Wyoming Street will also be closed.
Starting the week of August 11, crews will begin work on Project #1, which is located at the intersection of US 93 with Treeline Road.
Throughout construction, US 93 will be reduced to one lane in each direction with traffic control in place. Flaggers will be on-site to assist and guide concrete trucks entering and exiting the construction area. Drivers should stay alert, follow posted signage, and use caution near construction crews and equipment. Pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists are encouraged to consider alternate routes.
All work is dependent on weather and other unforeseen factors.
Intersection improvements include aligning dedicated left turn lanes, adding permanent pavement markings, and upgrading sidewalks and ramps to enhance safety features and meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.
