The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and its contractor, Prince, Inc., will begin work on the West of Jordan project on Thursday, April 24. This project will improve about 9 miles of Montana Highway 200 (MT 200), starting 12 miles east of Sand Springs (mile marker 192.2) and ending 12 miles west of Jordan (mile marker 201).
Improvements include widening the highway to feature 12-foot travel lanes and five-foot shoulders, resurfacing the roadway, adding rumble strips, installing additional signage, and updating pavement markings. This project also involves improving the Big Dry Creek Bridge, including repairing the bridge deck and upgrading the guardrail.
The project is anticipated to be completed in 2026. This schedule is subject to change due to contractor availability, weather, and other unforeseen factors.
Travelers in the region will also be impacted by the Flowing Wells East & West project, currently under construction. This project will reconstruct about 7 miles of MT 200, beginning approximately 2 miles west of the Flowing Wells Rest Area and extending east, crossing the intersection of MT 200 with Montana Highway 24 (MT 24).
When traveling through both construction zones, drivers should expect traffic control measures, lane reconfigurations, and reduced speed limits. There may be short delays of up to 15 minutes.
Regular project updates will be provided throughout construction.
