Audit Services exists to safeguard the assets of MDT, the State of Montana, and its citizens. Various engagements are performed to enhance and protect organizational values by providing risk-based objective assurance, and insight through audits, examinations, and investigations. Audit Services actively strives and promotes effectiveness by providing management with independent and objective assurance designed to add value and improve the department's overall operation.

Audit Services receives an independent external evaluation by the AASHTO Internal/External Audit Peer Review Team every three years. In addition, the IFTA Peer Review Committee and the IRP Peer Review Committee perform reviews every five years. Copies of the most recent peer reviews are available upon request.
