The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and Knife River are nearing completion for 2025 work on the 7th Avenue North Intersections project.

During the week of September 22, crews expect to complete landscaping work and installing signage. There may be nighttime lane closures at times on 7th Avenue North as signage is installed.

Once these tasks are completed, crews will finish remaining punch-list items before construction pauses until 2026. Next year, crews will seal and cover (chip seal) and apply final striping to the project area.

September 15, 2025

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and Knife River have completed nighttime paving work on 7th Avenue North.

During the week of September 15, crews expect to continue pouring concrete on intersection sidewalks and complete landscaping work.

A pedestrian detour will be in effect for Mendenhall Street while crews complete widening and upgrading signals.

During the week of September 8, crews also expect to finish pouring concrete on intersection sidewalks and complete landscaping work.

A pedestrian detour remains in effect for Oak Street while crews complete widening and upgrading signals.

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and Knife River will begin nighttime paving September 2.

During this work, closures of the crossroads may occur and turn movement may be restricted at times. This includes "right-in/right-out" or "right turn only" traffic patterns at some intersections. These closures will last overnight from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

During the daytime, crews will work on sidewalk improvements at Oak Street, Mendenhall Street, and the southwest corner of Durston Road. Pedestrian detours are in place.

7th Avenue will remain open during this work.

In observance of Labor Day, crews will pause construction activities after 3 p.m. on Friday, August 29, and resume on Tuesday, September 2.

Crews expect to begin milling and paving 7th Avenue North after the Labor Day weekend. Nighttime lane closures will continue throughout the project work zone.

Crews expect that Peach Street will reopen to traffic the week of August 18. Starting this week, crews will be primarily working on Oak Street, and the westbound right-turn lane on Oak Street will be closed during this work. Nighttime lane closures will continue to be in place throughout the project work zone.

A pedestrian detour remains in effect for Mendenhall Street.

Peach Street closure detour

July 25, 2025

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and Knife River expect to begin work on the 7th Avenue North Intersections project the week of July 28.

This project will upgrade five intersections on 7th Avenue North in Bozeman. The project area begins at the intersection of 7th Avenue North and West Main Street and continues north, ending near the 7th Avenue North and Nikles Drive/Wheat Drive intersection. This project will also widen two intersecting roads, Peach Street and Oak Street, to better facilitate the flow of traffic.

Beginning July 28, Peach Street will be closed between 5th and 7th avenues for approximately 3 weeks to construct a left-turn lane. Access to residences and businesses will be maintained during the closure.
