The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and Knife River are continuing work on the 7th Avenue North Intersections project.
A pedestrian detour has now begun on Oak Street to allow crews space to safely work to restore the shoulder. The right turn lane onto Oak Street from 7th Avenue North is also closed during this time.
Access to residences and businesses remain open throughout construction.
What to expect during construction:
- Intersection sidewalk closures and pedestrian detours
- Brief on-street parking disruptions during pavement work
- Flaggers may direct traffic at times
- Temporary lane closures including nighttime closures on 7th Avenue North
- Reduced speed limit
- Delays of up to 15 minutes
- Wide loads may be restricted at times

Peach Street is now closed for approximately 3 weeks between 5th and 7th avenues while crews install a left-turn lane. Access to residences and businesses will be maintained during the closure, and a pedestrian detour route is in place.

July 25, 2025
The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and Knife River expect to begin work on the 7th Avenue North Intersections project the week of July 28.
This project will upgrade five intersections on 7th Avenue North in Bozeman. The project area begins at the intersection of 7th Avenue North and West Main Street and continues north, ending near the 7th Avenue North and Nikles Drive/Wheat Drive intersection. This project will also widen two intersecting roads, Peach Street and Oak Street, to better facilitate the flow of traffic.
Beginning July 28, Peach Street will be closed between 5th and 7th avenues for approximately 3 weeks to construct a left-turn lane. Access to residences and businesses will be maintained during the closure.
