Project Overview
The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and engineering firm Morrison-Maierle are studying options to replace the 7th Avenue North bridge in Havre. The aging structure over the historic Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railway yard connects U.S. Highway 2 (US 2) with Havre North, communities further north, and the Canadian border.
The study will evaluate potential replacement options based on bridge design, alternative alignments, environmental impacts, right-of-way and utility needs, safety, operations, traffic patterns, and other factors. The study is expected to yield recommendations for a preferred alternative and associated costs.
Following the study, the preferred alternative could advance to design and construction if funding is identified. This study does not include design or construction of a replacement bridge.
At this time, no funding has been identified, and no construction date has been scheduled.
