The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and Jeffery Construction LLC have substantially completed construction on the project to rehabilitate Interstate 115 (I-115) Exit 124 City Center in Butte.

Work on this project began in late April and took approximately two months to reach substantial completion.

Crews will return in approximately 30-40 days to apply final epoxy paint markings, weather and other factors permitting.

Improvements included:

  • Newly paved driving surface to provide a smoother ride.
  • New guardrail, shoulder rumble strips, and signage.
  • A seal and cover (chip seal) of the roadway to increase the service life of the road.
  • Removed cattleguards on Excelsior Avenue on- and off-ramps.

The purpose of this project was to rehabilitate the short interstate highway I-115 to provide a smoother driving surface and increase the service life of the road. This approximately mile-and-a-half-long interstate highway was constructed in 1967 and is one of the shortest highways with the "interstate" designation in the United States.
