The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and Knife River will continue work on the Interstate 90 (I-90) on- and off-ramps at Trail Creek Road Interchange (Exit 316) the week of October 6, weather and other unforeseen circumstances permitting. The eastbound off-ramp and on-ramp are expected to be closed for approximately 2 days beginning Monday, October 6. Once work on the eastbound off- and on-ramps is finished, crews plan to close and begin work on the westbound off- and on-ramps at this interchange. This work is expected to be finished by the end of the week.
Crews will begin improving the Jackson Creek Road Interchange (Exit 319) off- and on-ramps once Trail Creek Road Interchange (Exit 316) is completed.
During the eastbound ramp closures:
- Eastbound motorists entering I-90 from Trail Creek Road will need to enter the interstate by using the westbound on-ramp then exit at the Bear Canyon Road Interchange (Exit 313) and reenter I-90 traveling east.
- Eastbound motorists exiting I-90 on the Trail Creek Road Interchange (Exit 316) will need to first travel to Jackson Creek Road Interchange (Exit 319), exit and reenter the interstate going west, and then exit at the Trail Creek Road Interchange (Exit 316).
During the westbound ramp closures:
- Westbound motorists entering I-90 from Trail Creek Road will need to enter the interstate by using the eastbound on-ramp then exit at the Jackson Creek Road Interchange (Exit 319) and reenter I-90 traveling west.
- Westbound motorists exiting I-90 on the Trail Creek Road Interchange (Exit 316) will need to first travel to Moffit Gulch Road Interchange (Exit 313), exit and reenter the interstate going east, and then exit at the Trail Creek Road Interchange (Exit 316).
Crews also expect to work on the L Street Bridge approaches (east of Rouse Avenue) over I-90 the week of October 6. There will be a 12-foot width restriction over the bridge during this work.
During construction:
- Flaggers may direct traffic at times.
- I-90 traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
- Speed limits will be reduced.

The eastbound off-ramp and on-ramp are expected to be closed Friday, October 3. They will then reopen over the weekend and are expected to close again for approximately 2 days beginning Monday, October 6.
During the ramp closures:
- Eastbound motorists entering I-90 from Trail Creek Road will need to enter the interstate by using the westbound on-ramp then exit at the Bear Canyon Road Interchange (Exit 313) and reenter I-90 traveling east.
- Eastbound motorists exiting I-90 on the Trail Creek Road Interchange (Exit 316) will need to first travel to Jackson Creek Road Interchange (Exit 319), exit and reenter the interstate going west, and then exit at the Trail Creek Road Interchange (Exit 316).
After the eastbound ramp closures are completed, crews expect to close the westbound off- and on-ramps at the Trail Creek Road Interchange (Exit 316) the week of October 6.

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and Knife River will continue improving the Interstate 90 (I-90) on- and off-ramps at Trail Creek Road Interchange (Exit 316) the week of September 22, weather and other unforeseen circumstances permitting. The eastbound off-ramp and on-ramp are expected to be closed Monday, September 22 for a single day.
During the ramp closures, motorists wishing to enter I-90 from Trail Creek Road will need to enter the interstate by using the westbound on-ramp. Those wishing to travel east will need to first use the westbound on-ramp, then exit at the Bear Canyon Road Interchange (Exit 313) and reenter in the opposite direction.
Those wishing to exit on the Trail Creek Road Interchange (Exit 316) from the eastbound lanes will need to first travel to Jackson Creek Road Interchange (Exit 319), exit and reenter the interstate going west, and then exit on Trail Creek Road Interchange (Exit 316) from the westbound lane.
Crews are anticipated to work on milling and paving I-90 this Saturday, September 20 during daylight hours. Milling and paving work is expected to continue on I-90 the week of September 22.

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and Knife River will continue improving the Interstate 90 (I-90) on- and off-ramps at Bear Canyon Road Interchange (Exit 313) the week of September 15, weather and other unforeseen circumstances permitting. The westbound off-ramp is expected to be closed Monday and Tuesday, and the eastbound on-ramp is anticipated to be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
During the ramp closures, motorists wishing to enter I-90 at a closed on-ramp will need to enter the interstate traveling in the opposite direction and then detour by taking the next interchange and reentering I-90 in the originally intended direction.
Motorists wishing to exit I-90 at a closed off-ramp will need to use the next available interchange, exit I-90, and then backtrack to the original interchange. See the map below for an example of the on- and off-ramp detours at the Trail Creek Road Interchange (Exit 316). These detours occurred earlier this month, and additional detours at this interchange are anticipated as construction progresses.
Crews also expect to work on milling and paving on I-90 the week of September 15.

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and Knife River will be improving on- and off-ramps at Jackson Creek Road Interchange (Exit 319) and Trail Creek Road Interchange (Exit 316) the week of September 8, weather and other unforeseen circumstances permitting. Only one off-ramp and one on-ramp will be closed at the same time.
Crews plan to close the eastbound off-ramp and westbound on-ramp at the Jackson Creek Road Interchange (Exit 319) starting September 8. These closures are anticipated to take approximately 2 days to complete (Monday and Tuesday). Crews then expect to move to the Trail Creek Road Interchange (Exit 316) ramps. The ramp closures at this interchange are expected to take 3 days to complete (Wednesday through Friday).
During the ramp closures, motorists wishing to enter Interstate 90 (I-90) on a closed on-ramp will need to enter the interstate traveling in the opposite direction and then detour by taking the next interchange and reentering I-90 in the originally intended direction.

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and Knife River will be working on bridge approaches the week of September 1, weather and other unforeseen circumstances permitting. No milling or paving is anticipated to take place during this week.
Crews plan to close the eastbound on- and off-ramps at the Jackson Creek Road Interchange (Exit 319) starting September 8. The temporary closures are anticipated to start with the eastbound off-ramp followed by the on-ramp.
In observance of Labor Day, crews will pause construction activities after 3 p.m. on Friday, August 29, and resume on Tuesday, September 2.

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and Knife River expect to begin work on the I-90 Bear Canyon to Jackson Creek project the week of August 4, weather and other unforeseen factors permitting. Crews will be paving Interstate 90 (I-90) in the eastbound lanes near Bear Canyon, doing electrical work at the Jackson Creek Road Interchange (Exit 319), and doing bridge work at the Fort Ellis Road overpass.
Construction is anticipated to pause this fall and be completed in the 2026 construction season.
