Draft Access Management Plan
Updated January 15, 2026
The public comment period for the Kalispell–Whitefish Draft Access Management Plan ended on December 24, 2025. The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and Robert Peccia & Associates (RPA) are currently reviewing and summarizing the comments received during this review period. The plan will then be refined based on technical analysis and public input. Once finalized, the Access Management Plan will serve as a long-term guidance document for future transportation and infrastructure decision-making along the US Highway 93 (US 93) corridor between Kalispell and Whitefish.
Any future roadway construction projects that may result from this planning effort would be developed separately and would include additional coordination with affected property owners and further opportunities for public involvement.
This plan evaluates how driveways, medians, and intersections are designed and spaced to help reduce congestion and crashes while maintaining access to adjacent properties.
