The North of Stevensville – North project continues moving forward. The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is pleased to share that final road and right-of-way plans have been completed for the roundabout at Ambrose Creek Road.
As a result, our team of right-of-way agents will start the process of connecting with landowners. This will include working with those along the project to appraise their land and start preliminary acquisition discussions.
The preliminary plans have been updated to reflect the new roundabout design on the project website in the Documents section.

Thank you for your patience as the North of Stevensville-North project moves forward. The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is currently working to complete hydraulic details for the project, finalize right-of-way agreements, and complete final roadway design plans, specifically the roundabout at Ambrose Creek Road.
A contractor will likely be selected in 2025, closer to the anticipated start of construction.
This project will reconstruct nearly six miles of Secondary Highway 203 (S 203), commonly known as Eastside Highway, enhancing roadway safety features and making the highway a more efficient travel experience. Proposed work includes 12-foot-wide travel lanes, a 12-foot-wide center left-turn lane, and four-foot-wide shoulders. Roadside slopes and ditches will be revised to improve safety and the vertical alignment and drainage features will be upgraded throughout the project. The existing 90-degree curves at Rathbun Lane and Ambrose Creek Road will be replaced with a large radius curve at Rathbun Lane and a four-legged roundabout at Ambrose Creek Road.
