The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is designing plans to reconstruct approximately 3 miles of Old Reserve Drive located northwest of Kalispell. This project begins at the intersection of Old Reserve Drive and Farm to Market Road and ends approximately 650 feet west of the Stillwater Road intersection. Planned improvements include:
- Reconstructing and realigning nearly 3 miles of Old Reserve Drive.
- Building 8-foot shoulders and flattening the slopes on each side of the road.
- Adding rumble strips to the centerline and shoulder of the road.
- Reducing the grade of steep hills and flattening vertical curves.
This section of Old Reserve Drive has a history of crashes and steadily increasing Average Daily Traffic Volumes. The goal of this project is to reduce the potential occurrence and severity of crashes in the project area and to provide a new driving surface to last well into the future.
