After substantial completion of the Highway 282 Culvert project, it has come to the attention of MDT there are concerns regarding a guardrail not being replaced on the southwest corner over Prickly Pear Creek. When designing the project, MDT took into consideration that the guardrail in this location was a safety hazard for vehicles turning from Haab Lane onto Highway 282 as it created visual impairments. To eliminate this, the project was constructed to flatten the slope to specifications where a guardrail is no longer needed.
Crews will return in approximately 30-45 days to install permanent pavement markings.
Access to the “Swimming Hole” at the Highway 282 culvert is now open!
